this wealth of exotic ecosystems is a major attribute of the region, attracting people from all over the world, whilst providing stability, as well as livelihoods, to the state. located in the world's most biologically diverse country, this type of diversity is not uncommon in brazil, which holds at least 10-20% of the total number of species on the planet, which are distributed over seven distinct biomes - the amazon, the atlantic forest, the campos sulinos, the cerrado, the pantanal, the savanna and the coastal and marine zone.

however, not the entire brazilian coast is the same, with the southeastern waters of the country, such as those on the rio de janeiro coastline, in possession of their own attributes, which gives them their own unique biodiversity. for one thing, these waters are much cooler than the waters of the northern coast, and they affected by different currents, giving them their own climatic characteristics, and strongly influencing the flora and fauna that can be found within.
