at a glance

this biome consists of a series of very diverse vegetation types, determined by their proximity to the coast, relief, soil type and rainfall regimes. these characteristics were responsible for the rich and complex ecosystem.

the mata atlântica (atlantic rainforest) is among the 25 biodiversity hotspots recognized worldwide, that is, areas that have lost less than 70% of their original plant cover, but which together are home to more than 60% of all species on the planet.

all of this bioderversity is justified by its gread latitudinal extension and the wide range of environmental conditions present in their fields. however, many are also socio-economic conditions and pressures throughout the biosphere, resulting in varying states of coservation in different regions, depending on different impacts. arrow-back     arrow-forward
