The park is a protected area of native and endangered animals, as well as plants and trees  of the larger mata atlântica. it is thereforenot allowed to bring in outside animals, with the exception of seeing-eye-dogs. hunting, fishing, or cutting of any vegetation is not allowed.

The enjoyment of the natural waterfalls, streams, and pools of waters found everywhere is encouraged, except for the forested sector of Tijuca. the use of personal hygiene products such as shampoos, and soaps is strictly prohibited, as they can harm the natural surroundings.
