there are two entrances to the bay via the ocean, one on the west side facing the ilha da marambaia, and one smaller one closer to the center of rio, in the neighborhood of barra de guaratiba. this second entrance, called canal do bacalhau is home to spectacular nature and scenery, as the shallow waters surround islands rich in wildlife and a most recommended sight for any nature lover in rio. 

from a naturel lovers perspective, of the beaches facing the sepetiba the most notable would be the praia da brisa, also called praia do aterro. while praia da brisa's waters are not usable for sports or seaside activities, the beach offers great views of the local bird population via the long piers recently built there.
