the station for the cable car is located at the praia vermelha beach. it is an exhilarating way of conquering the mountain, which also takes visitors all the way to the sugar loaf peak, if they desired.

the hiking trail also begins on the beach, just next to the cable car station - the hike is one of the easier in the city, it takes about 2 kilometers, which can take between one to two hours, eventually arriving at the peak of morro da urca at 220 meters above sea level - perhaps tired but with lots of pictures of the amazing scenery.

interestingly, not only does the hike save the ticket price charged for the cable car ride up, but after dusk the cable ride down is offered free of charge.
