a lot of this is owed to a reforestation drive in the area, which started in the latter half of the twentieth century, and still continues today. an incredible array of tropical biodiversity is on display on the mountain, as it makes up part of the ecologically renowned atlantic forest.

in fact, there are thousands different species of plants, nearly 100 species of birds, and over 90 species of animals on the mountain, included in this eclectic blend are, coconut trees, fig trees, orchids, capuchin monkeys, thrushes and even hawks.
