ilha grande (big island) covers 193 square kilometers and is located in the bay of angra dos reis to the west of rio de janeiro. there are seven small bays on the island and over 100 beautiful beaches. the climate is tropical so it can become very hot and humid.
perhaps the most stunning destination on the island is abraăo cove, sandwiched between a group of mountains and the sea.
this particular cove has 10 separate beaches and five islets - abraăo is considered the 'capital' of ilha grande and a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
