at a glance

miguel pereira's history started at the beginning of the eighteenth century, when the first pioneers were opening roads through these green valleys - this lead to many coffee farms to be established in the area, as well as farms raising cattle.

by the early nineteenth century, improved roads and railways opened the area to the world and to greater agricultural efforts - with roads and railways, commerce was improved, and large plantations were established.

called fazendas, theses plantations made up most of the area's economy, and commerce was thriving - products of the land and cattle enriched the area significantly. arrow-back     arrow-forward
