an impressive lighting system illuminates christ during the evening hours.   the color and intensity of 300 led projectors can be individually controlled, allowing for a number of scenic illuminations that change by the occasion. christ also stands atop of an eight-meter tall pedestal, containing a chapel, our lady of aparecida.

an electric railway, opened by by emperor pedro i in 1889, allows visitors to scale the mountain in comfort. a number of roads and trails also lead to the statue. alternatively visitors have the option of climbing stairs to reach the statue, or to catch a ride on a number of escalators that were installed in 2003.
