princess among all of rio beaches is copacabana beach, rio's most famous beach for over one hundred years - and in fact often referred to as 'princesinha do mar' (little princess of the sea) due to a famous 1947 song by joăo de barro and alberto ribeiro - white sands, dozens of kiosks and restaurants along it, the iconic black-and-white promenade and blue waves all make copacabana beach a prime destination for rio's residents and international visitors.
copacabana is never empty - beachgoers start running along its shores before sunrise, on the bicycle path or on the sand. then, the beach is lived up by thousands of people, beach vendors, sports players, surfer, photographers, and even street performers.
