completed in 1914, the military fort of copacabana is a landmark spot not to be missed during a visit to rio. conveniently located at the very beginning of copacabana beach, right at posto 6, this fort has much to offer to any visitor - in addition to the historic value of this fort, there are two restaurants with magnificent views, a view point at the far end of the fort, where the giant cannon is positioned, a museum, and a chapel.
