águas de março is a bossa nova song written and composed by tom jobim, and first released in 1972 - translated as 'waters of march', the song describes living in brazil's interior during the rainy month of march, but has much wider references to brazilian culture and the complexities of life, resonating deeply within the brazilian conscious - originally sang and recorded by jobim himself, but was then covered by elis regina, with the final version being a collaboration between both performers - voted the greatest brazilian song of all time, by a folha de são paulo poll, of 214 journalists, musicians and artists.
