getting to praia barra de guaratiba from zona sul can be time consuming due to traffic and narrow roads - average travel time from zona sul to this area of rio is about 80 minutes by car, or 120 minutes by bus - week-ends have less traffic, and faster travel times, but the beaches are more crowded.

the road connecting the rest of rio de janeiro to barra de guaratiba beach (praia grande), the last populated beach before the adventure beaches, goes through a protected area, and as a result the fleet of authorized buses that go back and forth on this line is limited, and rides not very frequent.

getting to this part of the city from zona sul can be time consuming due to traffic and narrow roads, thus we recommend starting the day very early.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
