in 2010, the government invested us $46 million into beach recovery for praia de sepetiba.

by dredging sand from the seabed and removing the mud and debris that hindered the beach from being a viable social gathering point, praia de sepetiba became a functional recreational area by 2012 - though the polluted waters are still not suitable for swimming.

several projects are underway to control the vegetation that invaded the beach as well as the mud and the sources of pollution.

the restoring of the beach is done by limiting or eliminating sources of industrial and residential waste, cleaning the borders, planting new trees, restoring native vegetation, and covering the area with an 80-cm layer of white sand coming from the bay itself.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
