in 2004 the banda de ipanema was officially recognized as
part of the city's cultural heritage - after gaining a cult following during its
formative years, the band first made a real impression when they
sung their opening song for the first time, now a well documented historical event.
this march went along the streets of rio de janeiro, singing the cryptic motto 'yolhesman
crisbelles' which, despite not actually meaning anything, still
ruffled the feathers of those in power.
