the banda de ipenama marches three times each
year, initially two weeks before rio de janeiro's carnival and
then on carnival sunday and carnival tuesday, which also happens
to be mardi-gras.
the march regularly attracts over 25,000 followers who
loyally trail the parade from rua gomes carneiro, its starting
point in the district of
ipanema
and then
head to the av. vieira souto and rua joana angélica before
turning onto the main street of rua visconde de pirajá.
