these thematic blocks feature a float, a band, many loyal fans.

divided in 4 groups numbered 1 to 4, blocos de enredo parade and compete against one another in the streets similarly to how samba schools compete in the sambódromo.

the winner of grupo 1 is promoted to samba school in grupo d for the following year, while the worse of the blocos of group 1, 2, 3, 4 are lowered to the lower ranking tier with the worse of group 4 eliminated altogether.
