at a glance

over a third of all carnival blocks in rio de janeiro take place in the zona sul, however the biggest crowds meet at the blocks of the blocos in the center of town.

of the nearly five million people who dress up and celebrate, 750 thousand do so in the zona sul alone.

after the street parties, the entire zone sul continues crowded with revelers improvising dances and small after parties in just about every corner of copacabana and ipanema.

in ipanema in particular, between the streets of farme de amoedo and rua joana angélica, hundreds of revelers meet and continue partying on their own until sunrise.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
