the most popular way to travel to the statue is to take the historical train of corcovado - older than the statue itself, the train of corcovado was build over a hundred years ago, making it the oldest tourist excursion in the country.

the train leaves from rio's cosme velho station, travelling 3,824 meters along its steep railway track, eventually arriving at the summit of the corcovado mountain, at an altitude of 710 meters.
