To the left is the praia do diabo and beyond it the forte de copacabana, jutting out into the water - On each side and in front mountains magnificently loom over the surroundings, and islands dot the vista of the water.

As the sun descends, the color of the sky changes shade; crimson, pinks, oranges, yellows, blues and even greens shimmer in the sky as the orb of the sun descends.

The crowds of people at the beach all face in the same direction, quietly enthrall and, when the sun makes its final farewell, all those sitting on the rock burst into applause, a rare moment of appreciation for the natural world that makes our lives possible.
