the Portal do emprendedor (portal of the Entrepreneur) is a website established by the Brazilian Government, following the changes in the taxation laws of the country in 2008, to cover the new category of Individual Entrepreneurs - those earning up to R $60,000 per year.

Specifically enacted to document entrepreneurs and sole proprietorships, such as tour guides, DJs, house cleaners, landscapers, handymen, and more, the Portal allows for the registration, documentation, taxation and ultimately protection of this large group of workers.

Brazil estimated that close to 11 million of its workers fall into this category, and envisions that millions of Reals that should be reflected in the country GNP are lost per year due to difficulties in registrations - and thus devised a proper infrastructure as reflected in the  Portal do emprendedor.
