anybody pursuing some form of remunerated employment in brazil needs an autorização de trabalho or work permit and anyone applying for such a document must also obtain the appropriate immigration visa (visto) that is applicable to their individual case. the easiest way to obtain a work visa is to be hired by a company that is either of brazilian ownership or that has an official branch of operation in brazil - in this situation, the company serves as a sponsor and generally takes care of the entire visa process. brazil makes available many types of work visas, ranging from temporary visas, 30 days to one year, to multi-year permanent visas, and even event-specific work visas for volunteers involved in major events such as the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, or special projects. |
