To alter the sad past of regular floods and lack of drinkable water in parts of town, the City Hall created the Secretaria Municipal de Saneamento e Recursos Hídricos - SMSRH, government organ whose main attribution is the redirection and treatment of water and sewage in Rio to improve quality of life and reduce recurrence of health and patrimonial loss.
