we met with some of the dancers who were selected to participate in the main parades by being on one of the main floats for a major samba school - the costumes ('fantasias') were designed to match the floats on which they stand, dance, and salute the crowds. 

we followed them as they prepared for the parade, then we accompanied them to the sambódromo and shared in their excitement up until the moments leading to their entrance in the specially designed stadium - these images try to capture the thrill and anticipation of parading in front of tens of thousands of fans, and are available on this link.
