during the carnival samba parade, each samba school is allowed to have 6 to 8 floats in its procession.

they travel down the sambódromo in between the wings, separating the different sections of the school's parade.

the floats are an extremely important and much anticipated part of the show.

along with props, they are assigned as one of the ten judgment categories.
