at a glance

often very sophisticated and original in design, the floats carry samba dancers in glamorous costumes, males and females wearing just body paint and glitter, the destaques (highlights) wearing the most lavish costumes, and special guests or celebrities.

the floats are designed by the school's carnival designer, known as the carnavalesco, who oversees the design of the whole show, ensuring that the school's theme is represented throughout.

some of the floats are motorized but most frequently they are pushed by men from the samba school community.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
