among the hundreds of private parties set up all over rio de janeiro for new year's eve, we choose to celebrate réveillon  on the sugar loaf.

from the sugar loaf it is possible to see the fireworks in copacabana, while from the morro da urca (the mountain from which the sugar loaf is accessed via cable car)  the fireworks in botafogo are visible.

the combination of music, energy, and the spectacular views made new year's eve on the sugar loaf an incredible and unforgettable night, and we highly recommend it to anyone who has already experienced réveillon in copacabana.

at the end of the night we descended to the nearby praia vermelha (red beach) where we saw the first sunrise of the year in what we felt was a truly magic and almost surreal atmosphere.
