at a glance
not far from  copacabana, ipanema beach is also home to the special réveillon atmosphere.

while on ipanema there are not ceremonies of umbanda and c andomblé followers, throughout the day and well into the evening, many people chose this beach to plant flowers in the sand, and make offerings to yemanjá.

on december 31st, ipanema is also a favorite spot for groups and families who choose to set up personal kiosks and tents, where they host parties.

depending on the year, on ipanema beach small concerts are set up by the city, with renowned dj's and special lighting.

these concerts start in the early evening and go to midnight, when most people leave ipanema to go see the fireworks in copacabana, only to return in ipanema after the show is over. arrow-back      arrow-forward
