some hotels require guests to pay additional taxes, such as for the use of the safe or the internet, and these have to be examined carefully in advance on individual hotels' websites.

for families and large groups, vacation apartments are consistently less expensive than hotels, and many of the best apartments are now offering concierge services, personalized travel assistance, and other extras previously only available at hotels.
