over new year, copacabana has the double advantage of being slightly less expensive than ipanema and leblon, and being home to the main events. from copacabana, visitors are only a brief walk away from ipanema, and have easy access to a variety of transportation links into the rest of the city. still remaining in zona sul, the areas further away from copacabana and ipanema will offer lower prices. the districts along the metrô line, such as flamengo, catete, and botafogo, are easily accessible and have more affordable options, with the same level of service and quality of the hotels in copacabana and ipanema. botafogo and flamengo are near some of new year's eve secondary celebrations, the music and fireworks held on flamengo beach.
