while there are celebrations throughout rio de janeiro, with parties and outdoor entertainment set up in nearly every neighborhood and out into the surrounding areas, the crux of the action is to be found at copacabana beach. it is at copacabana beach, where people gather for concerts and revelry at the music stages set up at posto 3 and other points along the shore, is where the world famous fire works take place. many restaurants and bars along the beach offer special 'end of the year' dinner packages that can run into the thousands of reals per person. mostly unknown to many foreign visitors, beyond copacabana, the city promotes events at several different points in the city. |
