at a glance

some companies will only sell pay-as-you-go phones to local residents, and not all companies will sell to visitors - this is why bringing a passport as valid identification is a good idea - generally official phone services stores will sell to visitors versus the newsstands around the city.

pay-as-you-go service cards are called 'pré pago' and after purchase can be recharged at most news stands - recharging a telephone number does not require identification.

the same dialing rules, listed above, can be applied to both public phones and cell phones - generally calling land line to land line and cell phone to cell phone is cheaper than crossing between the two - normally if cell phones work through the same carriers then phone call between the two are free.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
