the rich marine biodiversity makes of angra a great snorkeling and diving area, corals and old sunken vessels make the underwater scenery always unique and interesting - yet, natural beauty, beautiful beaches, and forested mountains are not its only attractions. 

angra's history still plays an important role, and offers visitors many churches and public buildings to discover, all from the colonial period - the historical center of town is rich of convents and small churches, narrow streets, and narrow roads - tributes to the origin of a town ever more precious to the state of rio.

from more recent history, a popular attraction is the monument to the aquidabã shipwreck on ponta do leste, commemorating the 1906 sinking of the brazilian navy most powerful battleship off the city's coast.
