from the beach there are beautiful views of the surrounding region, such as ilha dos porcos and morro do forno - not far, another very visited and photographed beach in the region, prainha beach which is located in the enseada da prainha (cove of prainha) between the hills of forno and mirante, boasts one kilometer of fine white sand and clear, warm blue-green water.    

one of the busier beaches in the area, it features lots of food and drinks kiosks offering delicious seafood options, and numerous restaurants, bars and residential buildings are situated nearby.

prainha gained world-wide notoriety in 2012, when a school of dolphins chasing sardines suddenly got stranded on the sand, but were all successfully rescued and put back into the ocean by a group of lifeguards and beachgoers - and it was all captured on video.
