a short hike through the forest is required to get to the beach, about 20 minutes of medium difficulty - one of the favorite spots for all tour operators on the island, lagoa azul, literally 'blue lagoon', is actually not a lagoon at all, or at least not during high tide.

when the tide goes out, however, this lagoon comes to light between the extreme northern tip of the island and nearby macacos island - many one-day tours stop here, as it is possible to snorkel among a variety of fish, spotting corals and marine life between clear rocks and underneath a beautiful vegetation.

with its pristine blue waters and abundant marine life, the lagoon is a favored location for snorkelers and scuba divers - in the summer and on week-ends there is often a boat-restaurant that anchors here to sell drinks and fresh seafood to visitors.
