praia de cordeirinho, praia de jaconé, and praia de guaratiba are other beaches in maricá that offer peace, plenty of typical vegetation, and wild waves - praia de itaipuaçu is the closest beach next to the pedra do elefante and the serra da tiririca.

praia de jacaroá is another small beach with calm waters and ideal for restful swimming or walking - the lagoa de maricá and the lagoa da barra are the most important among the several lagoons in the region, often chosen by the locals for swimming and fishing. 

lagoa do padre, lagoa de jaconé, lagoa de jacaroá, and lagoa de guarapina are part of the lagoon complex of maricá and normally visited for fishing only.
