the catedral metropolitana is massive, with a total capacity of up to 20,000 people standing. furthermore, the museu arquidiocesano de arte sacra, which exhibits different spiritual and historical items, is located in the basement of this cathedral. 

not far from the cathedral, the nossa senhora de candelária stands in all grandeur and beauty, the doors of the candelária were first open to the public in 1811 and there is a lot of history etched on its enormous walls.
