The National Library promotes the dissemination of its collection by holding exhibitions, shows, debates, lectures and maintaining regular programs to increase the visibility of Brazilian authors abroad. It has also worked with authors, editors and translators to set up a periodical called Machado de Assis Magazine, in order to provide the international publishing industry and public with translations of Brazilian texts to boost their visibility abroad.
