nearby, the serra da tiririca, is a park declared a world biosphere reserve by unesco (united nations educational, scientific, and cultural organization) in 1992.  the park was named after the cyperus rotundusm, a plant common to this area and commonly called tiririca.

hikers and rock climbers would much enjoy the tiririca park, as it is home to several panoramic trails and rock formations, all granting spectacular views form their top, including  morro da penha (128m), morro do cordovil (202 m), morro do tucum (costão)(217 m), morro da serrinha (277 m), morro do catumbi (325 m), morro do telégrafo (357 m), alto mourão(369 m), and the tallest of all pedra do elefante(412 m).      arrow-back     arrow-forward
