the view from the top of the morro das andorinhas, the rocky hill separating itacoatiara beach from itaipú beach, reachable via an easy trail in 30 minutes on the itaipú side,  is gorgeous.

from there, hikers can see itacoatiara beach, the serra da tiririca, the formations of morro do tucum (costão), alto mourão, and pedra do elefante, praia de itaipú and lagoa de itaipú, camboinhas beach, most of the oceanic region of niterói, and even parts of rio's zona sul.

the pedra do elefante (elephant mountain), the rock formation clearly visible form copacabana resembling the profile of an elephant, is right above itacoatiara beach.
