morro das andorinhas (swallows' hill) is situated between itacoatiara and itaipú beaches in niterói. it extends out into the ocean only a few kilometers off the coast of rio, and famous landmarks such as sugar loaf and pedra da gávea can be seen from its summit.

its elongated shape makes it distinctive and unmistakable among the niterói beachfront landscape - andorinhas stands 196 meters tall at its peak and is 2.6 kilometers long.
