though the trailhead is located in a more densely forested area, once higher elevations are attained the hill is covered in cactus and typical atlantic bush vegetation. thus, the view at the top is unobstructed, allowing visitors to catch sight of some local wildlife and enjoy the scenic vistas.

the trail is readily accessible and easy to find -it begins close to the historic church of são sebastião and the final stop for the buses leaving from the city center in niterói. at the beginning of the ascent there is clear signange indicating the direction and destination of the path as part of the serra da tiririca state park.
