itacoatiara is a word of the indigenous tupi language, meaning inscribed rock, or rock with drawings on it.  on this page we posted some photographs of praia de itacoatiara, prainha de itacoatiara, and the road leading to these beaches. 

700 meters long, itacoatiara beach is set between the morro das andorinhason one side, and alto mourãoon the other - the pedra do elefante is also clearly visible and seems to be part of alto mourão.
