parque dos patins is located on the banks of the lagoa rodrigo de freitas (rodrigo de freitas lagoon), commonly referred to as simply 'lagoa.' parque dos patins translated into english means skate park  and, although there is plenty of skating to be found at this park, the area offers much more to the curious visitor.
