for those looking for something a little more invigorating, there are also a number of adventure activities, in the park, which were set up during an ecotourism drive, in 2008. included in these activities are: canopy tours, tree climbing, zip lines, rappelling, and wall climbing - hiking is also a popular activity in the park - with the famous trail to mirante do sacopã, located within its borders.  it is one of the oldest hiking trails in the city, dating back to 1753, when it was used to connect the lagoon rodrigo de freitas with ipanema and copacabana.

the hike is a nice simple one, lasting about 30 minutes to reach the mirante do sacopã - the top of morro dos cabritos, (goats mountain), the highest peak at parque da catacumba, and making it suitable for all ages - once at the summit, hikers are treated to a truly unique view of the city, including the rodrigo de lagoa de freitas, the mountain dois irmãos and pedra da gávea, and the  statue of christ the redeemer.
