at a glance

the park has its origins in the early years of the 20th century, when it initially formed the gardens of the eduardo guinle mansion  - hence its current name. projected by the french gerard cochet, it was eventually acquired by the brazilian government, who transferred both the mansion and the garden to their current functions.

by the end of the 1940s a plan was implemented to develop the area, leading to the consruction of residential buildings. the estate was among the first of its kind, to be built especially for the social elites of rio de janeiro. this project was designed by burle marx -  only half of the six blocks he orignally envisioned were completed and years later a large office building was added to this set. arrow-back     arrow-forward
