from the zona sul, bus lines 332  (Alvorada - Castelo via Avenida Sernambetiba) gets to alto da boa vista.

from the zona west, bus lines 301 (Rodoviária - barra da tijuca via Avenida das Américas), and 345 (Barra da Tijuca - Candelária via Furnas) go along these routes.

for the Serra da Carioca sector, home to the statue of christ on corcovado and the  Paineiras, access is via the famous bohemian and artistic neighbrohood of santa teresa via  rua Almirante Alexandrino and, alternatively via the district of  Alto da Boa Vista  along rua Amado Nervo).
