once the coffee and cocoa interest began to subside, largely due to soil depletion an changes to the world economic conditions and demands, another wave of deforestation came into effect with the emergence livestock farming.

it was during this time that the land began to be used for agricultural purposes, mainly in the form of livestock farming, which led to the pasteurization of the land. this was also partially due to the industrialization of the country, which was the final stage in the reduction of the atlantic forest.
