Catro maya is a particularly popular trek, as it incorporates caves, historical building, ruins, pic-nic areas, and restaurants along the way.

Also along the circuit are the cavesof belmiroand luís fernandes, honoring the men who worked on the reforestation of parque da tijuca, and the gruta do morcego(Cave of Bats), with a depth of nearly 300 ft formed by a massive fracture.  

importantly, both trails have periodic access points that connect to paved roads, so that it is possible to explore each track a portion at a time, over several days.
