located in the heart of the foresta da tijuca is the second largest gneiss caves in brazil, of which the gruta luís fernandes is part, attracting visitors from all around, who come to enjoy the wonders of the mysterious caves. an excellent excursion, amidst a great wealth of natural attractions, the cave has become a popular destination for  those eager to learn caving.

the cave is perfectly positioned in the protected area of the tijuca national park, access is via the trail on the estrada major archer, which begins at the leisure area on this street. the trail is considered to be of light difficulty, as the incline is fairly easy to ascend.
